Burroughs Advertisements

The following is a sample of Burroughs advertisements over the years for a variety of products. Advertisements are critical research tools for collectors because they are almost always dated, and they tend to document new products being released to the market.

An additional common form of advertising are ink blotters. While blotters have been used for many years, the widespread use as advertisements really took hold in the late 1800's and continued to grow as a medium for ads reaching a peak in about the 1930's.  Many different ink blotter ads were produced over the years by Burroughs, many with local branch stampings to allow local contact and promote sales.

An excellent place to start your own collection of ads is to watch eBay.  Many ads for all manufacturers are common place and the pictures contained in the eBay listings can be downloaded to your system for future reference.  In most cases the pictures are good enough to read the ad print.
